MLK Dawson Movie Review - 550 Words

MLK Dawson Movie Review (Movie Review Sample) Content: Name:Professor:Course:Date:In general, the main ideas are those of freedom and equality. These ideas have ringed in the ears of Americans for a long time, especially during the civil rights campaigns in the 195os and 1960s. Organizations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored people pioneered the struggle. Another idea is about unity in the nation. Dating back to the Gettysburg campaign of 1860s, USAà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s president Abraham Lincoln decided to fight for unity. This was a trial period when the southern states wanted to secede, form their nation and continue with the practice of slavery. Another cry originates with the migration of the white race to Americas and the numerous wars that took place. Generations of the native red Indians population was killed in such wars. Expeditions to the interior were launched but not to hunt animals or explore, but to slaughter the Native Red Indians. Another period emerged during the American civil war, the southern states fighting the government in a bid to continue with the lucrative business of slaves and free labor. The other historic instance was the struggle for freedom and equality by the colored people. The lecture also touches on race and the effects of racia lism in the USA. In the 14th century, race was a great distinguishing factor. It determined what one is worth in the American society. This recurred until the American civil war. A century later, the colored people and especially the black people faced a lot of discrimination. This is an issue that recurs from the 14th century throughout five centuries and generations after generations CITATION Dys14 \l 1033 (Dyson). Luckily, today the colored people enjoy the same rights as their white counterparts.Gender is also a sensitive issue in this lecture as women were perceived to be inferior as compared to men in the early society. Dyson gives some examples of discrimination against women during the civil rights movements of the 1960s. With the beginning of settlement in USA in the 14th century, the old culture prevailed. Women were discriminated against and were not given any chance of participation in society building. This is an issue that women have challenged today and are participa ting in every personal and society building initiatives.Economic of a place or people is also a key issue in the society. Dysonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s main challenge is based on Martin Luther Kingà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬&tra...
